London based mobile games developer that have been voted one of the best workplaces in 2017!
They are self-publishing as they want to be in control of the vision of their games which shows with one of their recent games being downloaded 14 million times.
Due to their continued success, they are now searching for a talented and experienced Art Director to join them.
They want a candidate with an eye for quality and, at the same time understand how to balance that quality with consideration for its value and relevance in the product.
The ideal candidate would have a mixture of experience on console and free-to-play games on mobile platforms, with the more recent experience being with the latter. They should have an understanding of or be receptive to F2P principles and how that affects the creative operation.
A footing in and confidence with graphic design would be a bonus, as this role comes with responsibility of managing the UI art and UI designers.
Experience with 2D skills such as layout, type, UI and presentation material are of specific interest. Traditional game art direction, dealing with 3D and texturing, is also necessary.
Dedicated art direction of one project
Consultation on other projects and prototypes
Contributions to brand and marketing material
Be responsible for parts of the recruitment pipeline
Management of artists and UI artists
Develop a visual style and tone suitable for a given product.
Be flexible to different styles.
Express visual identity via the usual means: direction boards; sketches; concept material etc.
Communicate the style internally to the team and externally to stake holders
Be competent with the required 3D and 2D software.
Be familiar with the technical constraints of game engines
Be a good communicator and be happy working in a collaborative culture.
